Scientific & Research
HPD designs and builds custom instrumentation for government, university, and private research labs. Customers include NIST, NOAA, CalTech, MIT, University of Colorado, University of California, and Battelle Pacific Northwest Labs.
The LIGO ETF Technology Demonstrator was designed and built for LIGO (Laser Interferometer Gravitational-Wave Observatory) in 2001. This 2-meter-wide device is a two-stage, six-degree-of-freedom active vibration isolation platform, built to suspend up to 600kg of instrument payload isolated from ground vibrations. It was designed to fit within LIGO ETF and HAM vacuum chambers.
Reference Cavity Chamber. This thermally isolated and controlled vacuum chamber mounts an optical reference cavity. The cavity is an ionically bonded assembly incorporating an integral cavity-length control system.
Industrial, Semi-Conductor & Telecom

HPD performs contract product development and designs and builds process, assembly, and inspection tooling for industrial customers such as Applied Materials, Displaytech, IBM, Zolo Technologies, FAAC/IES.
Wafer Alignment and Printing Tool. This PLC controlled machine was designed and built to automate the process of assembling miniature liquid crystal displays.
Secondary Electron Optics Stack. HPD designed and built this field-replaceable secondary electron optics stack for a scanning electron microscope.
Aerospace

HPD has designed and built mechanical and optical systems and instrument packages for rocket, satellite, and ground support equipment. Customers include LASP and CASA.
LASP Diffraction Grating Mount. This motor driven diffraction grating mount is part of a satellite spectrometer instrument.
Medical

HPD has developed and built medical devices for distraction osteogenesis (mechanically induced growth of new bone and adjacent soft tissues) and for cranio-facial surgery. Customers include OrthoNetx/AcuNetx and Robinson MedSurg.
